Mark Anthony Brooks Jr. is an American born & British trained actor and producer devoted to telling everyday stories that highlight the humanity and complexity of Black men in television & film. Known for his appearances as Raoul in Blue Bloods with Donnie Wahlberg, Scotty in National Champions with J.K. Simmons, and the television series Games People Play, Mark Anthony is poised to have a long-standing career.

 

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana into a family of musicians and having played music throughout his childhood and college years, one may have imagined the multi-hyphenate creative would pursue a career in music, but Mark Anthony had other dreams in mind. However, taking from his musical background, he has been able to find the rhythm in acting to help him better understand speech and dialog while crafting a unique life for his characters. He became interested in acting during grade school, after joining the drama club and leading most of the school’s productions. 


After high school, Mark Anthony attended the illustrious Morehouse College where he received a bachelor's in psychology. He has been able to uniquely apply his academic background to roles requiring more abstract skills including his knowledge of human behavior. While his major was not in theater arts, he took a course at neighboring Spelman College and was later continued his acting training at the University of Oxford Mid-Summer Program in England joining alumni such as Chadwick Bozeman, Paul Giamatti, Tarell Alvin McCraney, and Russell Hornsby, to name a few. 


Beyond his love of acting and the creative arts, Mark Anthony’s desire to become a timeless creative drives him to explore the human experiences by exhibiting empathy in his work to tell positive stories that embody the authenticity of the characters he brings to life. When not on screen, Mark Anthony spends his time in partnership with the Charles H. Wesley Education Foundation serving young Black men as they navigate scholarship & higher education in tandem with his community efforts advocating for social justice & the ongoing fight for equality within marginalized groups.
